Nando’s Dundee

BuckleyGrayYeoman have restored period features and made bold additions to create a colourful, contemporary space in this Grade II listed Victorian building and adjoining 1920s warehouse. A capacious double height area has been created with an exposed timber roof and structural steelwork emphasising the spatial qualities and industrial character of the building. These newly restored details have been given a playful overhaul, taking centre-stage in an interior design that expresses the vibrancy of the Nando’s brand through an eclectic palette of materials and colour. A 40ft shipping container houses the kitchen at the heart of the restaurant, referencing the roots of the Nando’s brand in South Africa, where shipping containers are commonly used as spaces for restaurants and shops. A five metre-high graffiti mural, fills the rear wall and a delicate pendant light sculpture creates a play of colour above diners’ heads.

Fred Perry – Westfield Stratford City

BuckleyGrayYeoman has completed the design of Fred Perry’s new store in the Westfield Stratford City shopping centre, London, creating a retail space that merges contemporary design with the fashion brand’s rich 60-year heritage. At the heart of this new “Authentic” shop is a playful anamorphic installation, based on Fred Perry’s famous laurel logo, which runs the length of the shop. Formed of numerous internally illuminated ‘leaves’ of varying sizes, customers entering the store momentarily view the complete set of leaves together, before they visually disperse across the space.

Bloomsbury Way

Work has now started on our 10 Bloomsbury Way project – here are some great photos of the ongoing strip-out of the building.  Buckley Gray Yeoman have been appointed by London & Regional Properties to undertake a radical re-invention of the building, which is a former Ministry of Defence HQ in in the heart of London’s soon-to-be-revamped ‘Midtown’ area. The 9-storey office building will be opened up to its surroundings for the first time, with a generous new double-height reception space, retail and restaurant uses introduced at ground floor, and a new 9th floor with large roof terrace to take advantage of the stunning views across London in all directions.

Fred Perry Cardiff

Fred Perry’s first shop in Wales is now open, designed by BuckleyGrayYeoman. Set in a classical listed arcade the shop features traditional parquet flooring and hanging light fixtures, offset by sleek modernist features crafted in heritage materials. At the heart of the proposal is a grid of display plinths, which house and display the clothing selection in a gallery like setting. Fred Perry’s iconic laurel logo is picked up throughout the store in crafted brass pieces.
